Despite Dr. Todd Ruk’s claim that he’s “a pretty simple guy,” you wouldn’t know it from looking at his bio. In addition to his professional bona fides, he enjoys a host of interests, from sports to travel. Here are his highlights of both work and play.
Dr. Ruk received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1992 and his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1996. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville. Dr. Ruk then joined Northlake OB/Gyn in 2000. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a member of the Texas Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Outside of work, Dr. Ruk stays active with golf, frequent exercise and DIY home projects.
“My most proud ‘academic’ accomplishment is being named shop student of the year in eighth grade,” he says. “According to my family I ‘create’ projects around the house just to have a ‘project.’”
When he’s not tinkering around the house, training for marathons—he’s run three—or getting in some cross-training, he’s playing spectator to any and all University of Texas sports.
“I exercise so I can feed my sweet tooth,” he says.
Dr. Ruk is married to Jennifer, and they have three children. He is a proud supporter of his children’s extracurricular activities and enjoys vacationing with his family.
“Our annual spring break family ski trip is my favorite week of the year,” he says.
