North Central Surgical Center Hospital was founded in 2005 on the belief that by partnering with our physicians, we could build a patient-focused surgical facility that would provide care at the highest level.
For the past 10 years, we have experienced continued growth, including the conversion into a fully licensed hospital, the expansion of surgical services to include spine surgery and total joint replacement, and the addition of 24-hour emergency care and advanced imaging services.
Frederick J. Duffy, Jr., MD, FACS, offers his reflections on the past 10 years.
“As I reflect back on the ten years that our hospital has been open, I do so with a great deal of pride and satisfaction. I was Governing Board chair leading up to the hospital opening. When it opened, it was a hectic time. The partners and staff were excited but there was also a lot of uncertainty. Combining a very busy group of orthopedic surgeons and terrific partners from both Medical City and Presbyterian was not easy. Somehow we worked everything out and I hope that, 10 years later, each of the partners is as proud of the hospital as I am.
I felt it was important to lead by example, so I did the first case on December 12, 2005. It was a breast reduction and all went well, but a lot went on behind the scenes to get the operating room and the rest of the facility ready for that case and all that have come since. I was open with the patient and she was excited to christen the facility.
Many patients have passed through our doors since, and it delights me every day to see the high-quality care we provide. I am proud of all we have accomplished and I look forward to the next decade as our hospital continues to provide great care and adapt to the changes in medicine and surgical care.”
North Central exists to serve all through exemplary health care, education and community service. Our commitment to excellence in patient care is evidenced by the numerous awards and recognitions we have received over the years, including: multiple five-star awards from Healthgrades, the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, the 2015 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Patient Experience in Inpatient Care and the Emergency Department, and The Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Award.
Here’s to another 10 years!
